have you become calloused to the images of families and homes submerged under murky waters? well you're not alone. fortunately for me, God has given me this opportunity to co-lead a team to mississippi from january 2nd-16th. i want to invite you to join me in being a part of this trip. i strongly feel that a big reason for my going is to share this opportunity to serve.

my fellow team members: mike kim (co-leader), john choi, eugenia chun, isaac wang, brian suh, esther kim, peter choi, marilyn chung

please, please join hearts with me in prayer:

-trust: to continually medidate on our theme of trust throughout the trip. trusting in the Lord- His promises, His provision, His perfect plan; trusting in each other- there is much anxiety in the air, as there was litte time to prepare and solidify the logistics. (do not let your hearts be troubled; trust in God, trust also in me- john 14:1 is our team's prayer).

-team unity: for God to bear fruit despite the challenges we will face. finalizing our list of members only a few weeks ago, there was insufficient time to train and really get to know each other. not to mention, we are not only from two different fellowships, but we are also quite uninformed about the people we are to co-labor with in mississippi. for loving, willing, flexible hearts.

-katrina victims: to be able to show genuine love and compassion for the people during our short stay of two weeks in the rural and coastal areas. to give us words of wisdom and eyes of discernment at all times. also, for God to use the love and faith of the team to be a real hope and comfort to the victims.

-heart of joy: to protect us from discouragement, and to shield our eyes from the many disasters and losses we will be witnessing first hand. because there are only nine of us, we can only do so much. pray that that alone will not be a discouragement and hindrance to any of us. for joyful and humble hearts, yes.

-health and safety: we have three to four designated people to drive a total of more than forty hours. although we have been so blessed with free food and lodging, we will be in close proximity to many unsanitary places and areas where looting is common. also, please pray that none will get hurt as much of our work will be comprised of mostly physical labor (construction/cleaning).

-personal: upon reflection, i realized how much i try to be in control and do everything on my own. then i only find myself getting frustrated for failing and not meeting up to my expectations. that cycle inevitably breaks with no other explanation than by His grace alone when i catch glimpses of how it is all about trusting in Him and His promises. i need humility.

so won't you join me in believing that we have already won?! thank you sooo much! have a happy new year! hope to see most of you at retreat! and make the most of break while it lasts! woohoo! LET'S DO SOME DAMAGE! xD
